Looking for info on a 226 Sqn aircraft lost on 25 Jan 44, one of the crew members was W/O Kenneth McLeod Smith.

The aircraft details and the names of the crew would be appreciated.

Not much info I'm afraid, but 226 was operating the Mitchell Mk. II from Swanton Morley at this time.

Consulting my Air-Britain "book of numbers",I find 3 planes missing from this squadron but the dates listed are 25 Feb-44.A misprint somewhere?

Anyway, the serials are:FL691,damaged by flak near Abbeville and FTR. FV910:Hit by flak near Abbeville and ditched. FV934:Hit by flak and crashlanded Friston.

No names.

HTH,

Stein

Thanks Stein, According to the CWGC his death was on the 25th Jan 44.

I'll have to check at the PRO next time I'm there.
