Hi Pavel

This is indirectly related to your posting.

No.240 (FB) Squadron operated the Supermarine Stranraer Mk.I from June 1940 to April 1941.

No.240 (FB) Squadron ceased using their squadon code (BN) in June 1942. From that point onwards until its disbandment at Red Hills Lake, India, No.240 Squadron's Catalina's only carried an individual letter for identification purposes.

Cheers...Chris

Dear Ross,

thanks for reply. there were one plane which have been on patrol this day. The crew make crash land on the sea level. They spent whole night in aircraft on the sea and in the morning their plane landed at coast of Great Britain. So it is possible that the plane was just damaged and have returned to duty. So could you give me info which RAF serials were Stranraers or any other info which plane could be this one ?

Thanks

Pavel

W8418 was BN-U with 240 Sqn. It had been DA-N with 210 Sqn prior to Sep41.

Pavel,

209 Squadron's ORB does not record any loss or damage to a Stranraer in March 1941.

Ahoy,

Ragnar
