I am conducting research on my deceased Father, Harry James Orchard born 14/11/1915. With no surviving relatives, all I have to assist is an RAF 'Navigators, Air Bombers and Air Gunners Flying log book' dated 11 Feb 1944 to 11 May 1949. He was an Air Gunner and Operational Cine Cameraman. His service number was 189252.

Any suggestions on where I start looking would be greatly appreciated.

G'day Terry

If you want to e-mail at my home address with the units your father did his training, then at the very least I can tell you where they were located and what type of aircraft were operated. Which squadron did he get posted to after he completed his training ?

Cheers...Chris

Thanks Chris, I am amazed someone out there replied. I have very little information unfortunately. His flying log has entries on date / type of aircraft / pilot / duty / remarks / flying hrs. Nothing to stipulate what squadron he was attached to. His log is however, checked and signed periodically by the "Officer in charge, Operational Film Unit, 139 wing/D" if that is of any help.

Many many thanks
