Hi Rod

Hope this helps you a bit.

Cheers...Chris

Hi Rod

No.9 Elementary Flying Training School was at Ansly, Warwickshire.

Is it possible that R.A.F Hospital Lucknow is actually R.A.F. Hospital Lochnaw. This hospital belonged to No.28 Group of R.A.F. Technical Training Command.

No.7 Personnel Reception Center was at R.A.F. Station Harrogate, Yorkshire

No.4 (Observers) Advanced Flying Unit was at R.A.F. Station West Freugh, Stranraer, Wigtownshire. It belonged to No.29 Group of R.A.F. Flying Training Command.

No.48 Air School, Woodbrook, South Africa

Thanks Chris,

you may be interested to know that a personal document pertaining to this (a charcoal portrait of one cadet by another) states.

"No. 9 E.F.T.S. Walsgrave on Sand? Coventry"

Chris,

having just checked what you posted, I can confirm that you are correct and the hospital is in fact Lochnaw.

However, having check the location of No. 47 A.S. I have found that there is no location on South Africa (today) called Woodbrook.

No. 48 A.S. was at Queenstown, Eastern Cape, so I wonder if No. 47 A.S. could have been at WILLOWNOOK, Eastern Cape - the closest name match I can find to Woodbrook.

Regards

Rod

I guess one shouldn't completely trust MS Encarta (I shoud've know better!).

Woodbrook is near East London, in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It is now the major airport of that city, having been modernised in 1944.
