Can someone out there please give me a quick and dirty run down on the sqdn histoty for 729D sqdn and 2729 Sqdn from April 1941 until Nov 1943. What I am after is the bases that they were at and Duties(which I believe would be base defence and AA)

Thanks for any help

Buz

The defense squadrons were formed from a loose collection of groundgunners under a station defense officer.During 1941 these 150 squadrons were numbered 701 to 750 the AA Flights were left un-numbered.

729 Defense Squadron was formed at RAF Waddington from the Groundgunners on the station and remained there until 1942 as 2729 RAF Regiment Squadron. It moved in 1942 to the Regiment Depot at Filey and later at Belton Park.

Its movements after this are vague until they went to NW Europe

but they should be tracable from their ORB at Kew
