Flt Lt J H Wells was a member of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserves with 83 Sqn. He died on Thursday 22 June 1944 at the age of 21. He is Buried in Eindhoven (Woensel) General Cemetery Noord-Brabant, Netherlands.

He was the son of Thomas and Mary Wells, 14 Tweed Terrace, South Stanley, Co Durham.

His DFC Medal has been found and needs to be returned to his family.

Can anyone help with finding any remaining members of his family and give any details as to how he was killed on 22nd June 1944. I presume it will have been in a Lancaster flying from RAF Coningsby.

Have you tried writing to the local papers in the South Stanley area? I've had my best results by using this method.

There are a number of web sites that list regional papers and their email address's, I find a blanket posting of a letter to all the email address's available usually works.

Good luck
