Hudson N7334 was shot down by Hurricanes on the 3rd march 1940 due to poor aircraft recognition. Has anybody details of the crew & unit for the Hudson or details of the Hurricane unit involved?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

The Hudson was from No.2 CAM Unit which was a loose cover name for Cotton's PRU flight.

Details are sketchy due to the units use of a "line book" for an ORB. As each pilot returned he recorded his own flight details of time up, route, comments etc.

This means that if a crew did not return then, in most cases no flight details were recorded. In the case of a crew returned after a few days (or months if interned) then details do not appear where you would expect them.

So since any details are absent from the published histories I suspect that they are hidden in the depths of the line book. A trip to the PRO would permit you prove this or find the hidden nuggets.

Regards

Ross
