I would like to ask for the meaning of this abbreviation.

It is in connection with the investigation of aircrash.

I don't have my books in front of me right now, but I'm pretty sure that this stood for Air Investigation Branch. I'll check tonight, but I've no doubt that if I've got it wrong, someone will point it out.
