Airspeed Oxford I N4592 of No 13 Flying Training School, Drem, dived into Lammer Law, killing both trainee pilots, Corporal BF Evans and Corporal C Thorpe. Aircraft a write-off (not surprisingly!)

Thanks for that lads, anyone got a map ref for the site and know if anything remains.

I am busy compiling a list of crashes in the Lammermuir, Manor & Moorfoot Hills.

Thanks,

Jim

The map reference for the crash site is NT 520 604. This is shown in issue 42 of 'After the Battle' magazine and is my sole source for this information. There is a little information included from a schoolboy who visited the site and he writes: "The large area strewn with wreckage was visible from miles away ... It is true to say that in a few weeks most of that aeroplane disappeared, even the seven-cylinder Cheetah engines were taken apart and robbed of various components."

Thanks for that information. I may visit the area at some point but with the wife expecting twins in November when this will be I do not know!

Thanks again.
