Henk, None of those you list by the look of it.

Carpendale registered at Salisbury

Churchill at Brighton

Goodchild at Market Bosworth

Tully, by the way, at Borders

Henk,

further to my last post, Goodchild possibly associated with the crash of TM N6753 north of Desford. I can't tie up the other two that are outstanding.

Saunders aged 23 Aylesbury

Good aged 33 at Westminster

Black aged 22 at Blackpool

Costello aged 54 at Uxbridge.

No tie ups with anything I have.

Firstly it is TULLY NOT Tulley

I think the second crewman qas Sgt John Porter Langlands who is the only other casualty who was Killed on Active Service on the same casualty list as Tully in the Times (Apr 22nd 1943) who has a death registered in Borders like Tully.

Not only that but he is listed as a Sergeant (Nav.) on CWGC

Thanks Paul for the corrections. I've Sgt Langlands connected to F/O Ronald D. Jones - 126150, who crashed with his 9 (C)OTU Beaufighter T5158.

Perhaps Errol Martyn could help us as TULLY was from New Zealand.

Regards,

Henk.

Thanks Paul; Tully and Langlands (both registered Borders) were on EL359. Do hope you'll find the airman who belonged to Jones' (T5158) crew.

Have a good weekend,

Henk.

Henk & Paul

'Air Crashes in the Lake District' lists only T5158 as crashing near Crosby on this date and gives a map reference 86/519618 which puts the location just NW of Brampton village and to the east of the airfield. The crew is given as

Tully NZ416558

Jones 126150

Longlands (sic)947052

Jones's death is registered at Carlisle, the other two at Borders, which appears to amount to much the same thing as offices cover adjacent registration districts. Longlands and Tully are both on page 665 of the Borders register, Jones is on page 716 of the Carlisle register. Was he was indeed in a different a/c? see below.

The Beaufighter crash log lists both

T5158, crashed during single engined demo. circuits at Fergus Hill, Kirklinton which is to the north west of the airfield at 85/425662.

EL359 Stalled and crashed on approach at Brampton, Cumbria

ABS agrees with the Crash Log.

More questions than answers!

DaveW

Gents,

T5158 crashed during single engined demo; is it possible Jones was only occupant ?

For the time being I keep Tully and Langlands (both registered at Borders) on EL359.

Regards,

Henk.

"Perhaps Errol Martyn could help us as TULLY was from New Zealand."

Unfortunately there are no documents on TULLY's service record that could enlighten us as to who his nav was.
