Hptm. Hans von Hahn from the Stab I./JG 3 claimed a Blenheim on 10/1/1941 N.E. of Nieuport (Belgium). Somebody has any idea of the unit and the crew of this Blenheim ? Thanks for your help.

Hi,

perhaps it was Blenheim from the 82 RAF serial T2163?

Hi Regis

The Blenheim suggested by Robert is recorded in Chorley's Bomber Command Losses as being "Lost without trace" on the 11/1/41, having taken off from Bodney at 1450 to raid Amsterdam in daylight. The Crew:-

P/O A H Poulson

Sgt J Burton

Sgt H Summers

all are on the Runnymede Memorial which means they have no known grave.

The book does not give any Blenheim losses on 10/1/41 but it only deals with Bomber Command.Your A/C could have been from Coastal Command raiding shipping in a Dutch or Belgian port or just off the coastline or a Fighter Command A/C on an intruder Mission. There was a Fighter Loss Intruding at Beauvais,9-10/01/41 according to Warner "The Bristol Blenheim".The A/C was L1226,23 Sqn, FTR(no cause of loss given) Sgt Jones KIA,Sgt's G Bessell and R Cullen,POW,I don't know whether an op to the Beauvais area would have brought the A/C near to Nieuport

Regards

Dick

Hi Robert and Dick,

Thanks a lot for your help. Hptm. von Hahn claimed this Blenheim at 14.35 h (German hour). Maybe it's a misidentification from his part too...
