Hi all

I am the Research Officer with the Mackay Historical Society and Museum Inc. in North Queensland Australia. As part of a project for our museum and the community I am researching the men from the local district who were killed in war with a view of compiling a biographical register. The Airman in question is Sergeant George William Sergio,CROMPTON, 404207 (RAAF), Attached to M.E. R.A.F., enlisted 21 June 1940, Missing presumed Killed, 30 July 1942, Middle East.

If anyone is able to help with details of this accident it would be greatly appreciated

Thanking you

Glen Hall

Hi Glen

If you follow Andy's lead to naa.org you will see that they were shot down into the sea by German fighters and George as the tail gunner was severely wounded in the action
