Looking for the cause of death of two airmen of 604 Sqn who were killed on active service 13-10-1939. 604 Sqn then was based at Northweald, Essex. No a/c loss for this date. Is it possible that they were killed during an enemy bomb raid ?

AC2 Harold S. MELVIN - 804282 - buried Wallsend (Holy Cross) Cem., Northumberland.

AC2 Jack C. WARRY - 804336 - buried St.Marybone Cem., Finchley, Middlesex.

Regards and thanks for your help.

Henk.

Both are listed as "Killed on Active Service", but I cannot find any information that there were any raids or enemy activity in which they could have been involved.

That's what I ascertained as well and therefore thought it could have happened during an enemy air raid (not necessarily at North Weald but probably another city whilst on leave or else).
