What caused the death of Sgt James F. BREMNER - 742099, according to The Times (16-2-1940) missing, and whose name is commemorated on Panel 12 of the Runnymede Memorial.

May be nothing do do with this man but for 23/01/40 I have a note of

8 FTS

Oxford I

L4889

Crashed into the sea off Montrose.

L4889 was a 17 OTU Blenheim dived into ground near Upwood, killing sole occupant P/O Granville J. McFARLAND - 42413 (RAF from Nw.Zealand).

Got'm......... Oxford L4669 ! Control lost a night, crashed in sea off Montrose, 23.1.40. Unfortunately doesn't match with Sgt Bremner's date of death 24.1.40.

It does if flight past midnight !! it was a night flight after all!

Thanks Paul. For the time being keep it as Sgt J.F. Bremner - 742099 missing whilst night training on Oxford L4669, 8 FTS, 23/24-1-1940, crashed into sea off Montrose.
