What caused the death of P/O (Pilot) John C. PUGH - 42882 - killed on active service (Flight Global), buried Woodchester Dominican Priory Churchyard, Gloucestershire (UK7200).

A/c write-offs for this day:

Beaufort I - L4442 - Makers - crashed (no more info).

Fokker F.36 - G-AAFZ - 1 AONS - crashed on take-off Prestwick.

Gauntlett II - K7889 - 1 AAS - crashed on landing Manby.

Master I - N7470 - 5 FTS - crashed on landing (overshoot) Sealand.

Master I - N7610 - 8 FTS - damaged byond repair (no more info).

Spitfire I - P9517 - 5 OTU - crashed in forced landing near Leominster, Hereford.

Dragon I - G-AACA - Aberdeen A/W - crashed Dunbeath, Caithness.

Henk,

It's Pugh in P9517. Aircraft caught fire and in attempting to perform a crash landing hit trees trying avoid a farm worker and a team of horses. Aircraft dropped into the field on its back and burst into flames
