"'Unaccounted' airmen 30-5-1940"

What caused the death of following airmen:

Sgt Harold R. BIRCH - 754144 - whose name I can't find in Flight Global and The Times archives, buried Crandwell (St.Andrew) Churchyard, Crandwell and Byard's Leap, Lincolnshire (UK1931), and

F/Lt Robert E. BUTLER - 74959 (from Irish Republic) - whose name I can't find in Flight Global and The Times archives, cremated and commemorated Dundee Crematorium (UK8174), and

P/O (Pilot) Oliver P. CROOM-JOHNSON - 91109 - 611 Sqn (Spitfires - Rochford/Essex) - killed on active service (Flight Global), buried Over Wallop (St.Peter) Churchyard, Hampshire (UK1893).

Aircraft write-offs for this day:

Hudson I - N7234 - 3 FPP - crashed on approach Hullavington.

Master I - N7706 - 15 FTS - spun into ground Fishers Pond, 4%BD mile S of Winchester, Hants.

Tiger Moth - G-AESM - 10 EFTS - flew into ground Yatesbury.

Tutor I - K3242 - CFS - crashed on landing Upavon.

Wellington IC - P3196 - 99 Sqn - abandoned Chrishall, Essex.

Spitfire N3057 of 611 Sqn had a collison with another aircraft at Digby on 30-5-1940. The aircraft was not badly damaged as it went on to serve with 234 Sqn - I wonder if CROOM-JOHNSON was in this aircraft or the one that also in the collision (Serial unknown to me)

The Spitfire List states that N3057 was damaged by signal flare while taxying Digby.

Air Britain aeromilitaria dated Summer 2006 (which is working through all the early Spitfires, serial by serial) has what I posted..

Henk, Croome- Johnsons death is registered at Winchester. The Master?

Will look at the others later.

His full name was Oliver Powell Coombe-Johnson and he was AAF

Henk,

Birch's death registered at Chippenham so possibly the Hudson.

Brooks died of a gunshot wound.
