SteveBrew (0 posts) 10-Apr-05, 09:55 AM (GMT) "Aircraft Issue Records" On 1 April 1924, 41 Squadron RAF was issued with the Armstrong Whitworth Siskin III. Then, in Summer that same year, the squadron increased from one to two flights. There's nothing of help in the ORB, so could someone suggest where I might find out where the aircraft came from and which / how many there were? Are there files at the PRO (TNA) indicating aircraft issues to RAF squadrons, or is it necessary to find files (where still existing) of the manufacturer themselves, to find out what was issued to whom? My query concerns all inter-wars aircraft, but I have used the Siskin issue as an example. Further, is it possible to find correspondence concerning the Air Ministry / RAF's decision to issue a particular aircraft to a squadron and why? Thanks Steve   Top
