CWGC WW2 Air Forces Casualties Query Tool

Everyone knows how frustrating the CWGC Search Tool can be when trying to locate the record for an airmen. If you do not have the complete information, it may take several takes of the clunky search facility to finally locate your record. While the spirit and effort of the CWGC Staff is appreciated, the user experience of the search tool makes the experience a wee bit frustrating.  To get around that – we worked on a tool that will help you search the database with ease.  Presenting, the WW2 RAF and Commonwealth Air Forces Roll of Honour

http://www.rafcommands.com/database/wardead/

This is a database of all commonwealth airforces casualities in the Second World War. The data is taken from the CWGC site. This tool helps you to easily search for a casuality based on partial name or number, exact date or year of death, or even to locate by cemetary or by unit. The objective of this tool is to help you narrow down the names you are researching.  It does not give all the data that CWGC has – eg Additional data of next of kin, age, grave location or the documents. For that you still need to go to the CWGC Site and run the query engine.. but its very useful to narrow down search based on names, year of death, unit or cemetery/memorial location. The tool supports multiple “AND” queries to progressively narrow down the search. At the bottom of the page is an easy link tool to copy and share across other sites / forums.

A cross link feature to search information on the CWGC Site or the rest of the internet using Google Search will soon be built into the above.
