Details Force landed Hurricane IIC BN230 at Macherla, Lat 16 32 N Long .30 hrs. Lt Furniss had taken off from Lohegaon for Hakimpet at 10.20 hours and at 11.05 hours had lost the map he was using (Bombay), through a whole in the perspex of the cockpit hood. The pilot fleew on towards Hakimpet hoping to point on the next map due to be used (Godavari). He overflew ETA and pinpointed himself in the said position. By this tiem the aircraft had already flown for over two hours and the pilot had to forceland the aircraft due to lack of fuel.
