Details 7 Hurricanes left Imphal for Commilla at 1535 hours. Six landed. the 7th had its engine cut. Crashed in Forced Landing at Sonemura. 20 miles NE of Comilla. [RCAF] Lost his life around 1020 am . Funderal next day at Mynamati Military cemetary. Returning from operations over eemy territory and reported petrol trouble fifty miles from the base. Hi saircraft fell behind the formaiton and wunable to maintain altitude crashed into a small patch of sugar cane. The suqadron was flying from Imphal to Comilla. AFter bieng in air for one hour and fifty minutes, the officer leading teh squadron noticed Gibson was experiencing engine trouble. He handed over the formation to the deputy leader and flew along gibson. The entine trouble became worse and it finally stalled and fell to the ground from a low altitude. Umfortunatley in the crash gibson struck his head on the part of the equipment in the cockpit causing a blow to the skull creating a fracture. [F765c] Cr near Senemura NE Comilla Grid. Ref 331 951
