Coastal Command August 1943Hi all, few bits and pieces for 311 Sq losses: 21 - Liberator GR.V - 311 Sqn - BZ780 - ( 42-40678 ). First operational loss after re.training on Liberators, crew led by the squadron CO W/Cdr J. Breitcetl DFC - he was the only CO who got killed on operation. 29 - Liberator GR.V - 311 Sqn - BZ775 - ( 42-40643 ). Operational crew of F/O A. Musálek lost after take of for operational sortie, crashed into woods around Beaulieu. 30 - Liberator GR.V - 311 Sqn - BZ785 - ( 42-63809 ). Crew of six crashed during a training flight - practice of corkscrew maneuvre. Beileved the crash has happened due to the to much self-confident captain F/Lt E.
