Concentration of Allied graves in the former DDR
Most of the allied casualties in the Berlin area were brought to the Berlin Olympic Stadium for identification. Then burial took place at the "Heeresstandort-Friedhof" Dalgow-Döberitz. Postwar this area became a Russian tank exercise site; many graves damaged/lost. From Döberitz (Russion Zone) reburials were carried out to the British War Cem., Heerstrasse, Berlin-Spandau. We succeeded in finding a contact person of the postwar Dalgow-Düberitz community and 1998 Mr Jan Hey obtained 3 pages with names of allied servicemen initially buried in that German military cemetery; he worked out the list and sent me a copy of the results. Regards, Henk.
The Battle of Berlin losses buried in Doebertiz and ElsgrundCemetery Based on Alan Cooper „Bombers over Berlin – The RAF offensive,November 1943-March 1944“ Second Edition 1989 In [] means, that some of the crews could be buried in Elsgrund. Halifax HR841 lost over Berlin 29/01/1944Dear all, I am looking for any picture of Halifax HR 841 of 77 Squadron, sadly lost over Berlin on 29 January 1944 with all her crew. Only found some pics of the crew members but not a crew group photo or similar. Have found too that aircraft serial HR841 belongs to a B.Mk II but Series I or IA? any other related info about the plane would be very helpful. Thanks in advance! Halifax HR841 loss Berlin 1944 - BLOG POSTDear all, Let me share with you my last research about Bomber Command and Berlin, in this case regarding the loss of Halifax HR841 of 77 Sqn and her crew, which crashed onto the KaDeWe famous store department. This story, a real story from World War II, has been told many times and by many sources, but never before in the right way. Actually, this deadly crash happened not in November 1943 but three months later, on the night of 28/29 January 1944. Comments, corrections and improvements would be welcome; thanks! -------------------------------- Read more on our blog: https://www.berlinluftterror.com/blog/halifax-hr841-wittenbergplatz ....Read More.loruizpa_Berlin on 23rd October 2022 07:17:47
