HW440 Colin Cummings' The Price of Peace says "27/8/45 15.37N,80.29E "The a/c was being flown No. 2 in a formation of four a/c during a squadron move from St Thomas Mount to Gannaravam and was being flown over the sea. One hour after take off the formation entered cloud and the pilot reverted to instruments but lost control of the a/c and it crashed into the sea. My information comes from a copy of a SEAC Searcher List issued in 1946, which was used to help identify human remains and/or aircraft wreckage, when found. The list is as much subject to human failure as in any other document. l'd prefer to keep an open mind on this, until it is proven conclusively, that the aircraft in question is HW440.
