Details Near chin hills, into storm crOne of 152 Squadron's Spitfires was lost in storm clouds over the Chin Hills, Flt Sgt R.C.J. Berry failing to return; the crash site was subsequently discovered. [ORB]. The Squadron ran into storm clouds over CHIN HILLS on way to sweep MEIKTILA area. Took off at 1600 hours and all went weell despite a good deal of broken cloud in hills until some 30 m from MEIKTILA, they ran into an area of dense cloud stretching from 17000 feet to 8000. The formatio was quickly broken up anme each one for himself back to base. COs R/t was u/s for tramsission. Some anxiousmoemnts at dispersal as ac came back in tows and threes. but Berry did not return. He was last seen going down pretty fast in cloud when two pilots reported having seen an explosion and a flash of flame and smoke in the hills near TABYIN.
