Details Shortly after 1000 hours , an most unfortunate flying accident occurred. An american C-47 taking off from N to S on the all weatehr strip (Along whose E Side our Spitfires are parked during the day) swung off the runway and collided with one of our kites causing it to catch fire and burn itself out completely. But before this C547 finally came to a stand still, 3 other of our kites were damaged, 2 of tehse were write offs and a third was repairable by teh MU. The pilot of the C47 did not have very much to say for himself. If any tendency to swing occured early on during his take off, he certainly did not appear to have used his throttles to counter it. The same afternoon, the wind which blows across the N-S Strip tended to blow another C-47 on top of our kites. this was also a write off.
