Details one of ten aircraft detailed on 15 June 1944 to escort D C’s to the Indawgyi Lake area, Central Burma. On returning from the target area, JG 865 became separated from the formation in thick cloud and all communication with the aircraft was lost. Other sections of the formation succeeded in making for a gap in the clouds, and came out north of the Imphal valley. [ORB} Twelve ac escorted 16 DCS to IRBAWGYYI Lake, MOGAUNG and MYITKYINA areas. Spits flew in sections at 3, 5, 9k feet with DCs at approx 1000 feet. Weateher very poor. Three ac failed to return from this operation.
