Details (AB) Hit water low flying 18m NNE of Kolar (MPoole) Of the seven aboard KG883 on a training flight, four were killed, including a groundcrewman riding as a passenger and the pilot, 570118 Sgt John Weston Finch. Two were seriously injured, and one was slightly injured. The Court of Inquiry ruled pilot error as the sole cause of the accident. The inland body of water where the Lib crashed was referred to as a "tank" in the Court of Inquiry and was approx. 1 miles long. Aircraft wreckage was spotted on the bottom of the lake. The deceased are buried in Madras War Cemetery.

Liberator Training in IndiaFrom the Oughton book, these are the only Liberator histories to mention a link to 6 RFU. This list includes EW219 (cited in the source Col quoted) but not two of the full serial numbers mentioned in the Totham logbook, EW183 and EW258. The double-asterisks indicate individual aircraft histories I already listed in my earlier posting. It is possible that there were other Liberators flown at 6 RFU but which were not officially taken on strength of 6 RFU.
