Details Our first and only fatal casuality of 1944 occurred on 21st Decm 44 when Warrant Officer T H Cambridge was shot down by ground fire immediately after a strike on a Japanese camp near GANGAT. First casuality in 12 months. Mission led by S/L Fletcher. bombed targets within a mile of own troops near GANGAW. WO Cambridge was unlucky as he did his bombing and strafing runs with the rest, must have been hit by flak and he suddenly spun down from 5000 feet as teh squdron was forming up. Hit the ground at about 450mph, exploded and burst into flames. 1155-1305 hours
