Details While carrying out a morning Tac/R, one of our aircraft was hit by Ack Ack fire and the pilot was seen to bale out. A section was immediately scrambled to patrol the scene of the crash, whil efforts were made to organise a resue party with the Army. The only thing that could be done was to maintain a standing patrol over the hours of daylight while a brigade column made a sweep....(20 Dec). The column returend to Sourabaya without news of the missing pilot. Through the medium of RAdio Monitoring service we have since learned that he was handed over to the Indonesian authorities and given medical attention. Negotiations for his return are going on through the indonesian premier. F541: 0735 0750 (Crashed). F/S Davidson shot down by Bofors type ack ack from WD230646. Pilot baled out safely. WD230646 gun strafed and stopped. Some met seen.

Details During a strafing run, a delayed drop bomb came off and exploded beneath him. He made a belly landing - aircraft was a write off. DBR by own bomb bursts. 0915 1100. F541: Ac S ws damaged Cat II as result of delayed bomb drop releaseing in strafing run, heigh tof aircaft 100 feet. The ac was flown back to Meiktila late today.
