Details Aircraft 'E' lost to ground fire. Pilot reported safe. Six Hurricanes led by Flt Lt E M Frost set out to bomb Jap Position at RK5896. After the bombing one of the aircraft was seen to bein difficulty. The pilot W/O J M BOTT successfully force-landed in a jungle clearing. He was seen to leave aircraft and run to the foothills to his East. His aircraft was strafed and set on fire by our aircraft. The remaining Hurricanes carried out one ore strafing run of the target area. Bott walked back in on 7.6.44. he reported his crash was caused by engine falure following machine gun hits. Aftr his force-landing he heard coniderable return fire directat at our aircraft. He followed through the night by the enemy, fired at several times. Sustained solely on energy pills. Hence his ensuing fatigue
