This new aircraft took off from RAF Palel on a test flight. The Hurricane spun after a steep turn, the spin was corrected and then it spun again, crashed into the ground at 0820, and burst into flames. Details This new aircraft took off from RAF Palel on a test flight. The Hurricane spun after a steep turn, the spin was corrected and then it spun again, crashed into the ground at 0820, and burst into flames. Also reported as LE701 in Forum. Form540: Cloudlay over the hills and only two aircraft took off, both on air tests. One of the pilots, W/O Hopper after 25 minutes flying, spun off in a steep turn over the drome at 2000 ft. He recoverd but flicked the other way and crashed in flames near the drome and was instantly killed. he was buried later that day. Form 541. LE795 Local 0750 And E Test Crashed - Killed.
