Born in Calcutta, 1919. Enlisted November 1938. Commissioned July 1940. Citation in Air Ministry Bulletin 18150. "Squadron Leader Meadows is a most keen and conscientious flight commander who has set a fine example of efficiency to the squadron. He has completed a large number of operational sorties by night and day, many of which have been in bad weather over France, Belgium and Germany. During these missions he has destroyed three enemy aircraft (including two in one night). He has always displayed exemplary courage and devotion to duty." Shores book "Those Other Eagles" states that he destroyed two Ju.88s, 31 December 1944/1 January 1945 in Mosquito MM706 (radar operator identified as F/L .M. Friend). He does not identify the third victory. You should be able to obtain a copy of the Combat Report via the British Archives "Documents on Line." ....Read More.HughAHalliday on 19th September 2010 07:56:27

It gives a claim for a Ju88 on the 29/28th July whilst he was with 604 Squadron. That combat report is probably this one: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/details-result.asp?Edoc_Id=7795688&queryType=1&resultcount=6 A ....Read More.Amrit on 19th September 2010 09:42:01
