|615 Sqn, Feb 15th, 1941 help request||I have a file done by Tony Wood listing the Fighter Command activity in 1941 and which says that two Hurricane I of 615 Sqn RAF took off at 1140 hrs on 15 February 1941 and that BOTH were shot down off Blankernberge by German fighters. Plt Off D G A Stewart was killed aboard Hurricane I P3231, while Sgt A C Fotheringham (who was flying Hurricane I V7651) was captured.
Two German pilots claimed Hurricane this day off Ostende, Oblt Karl-Heinz Leesman of 2./JG 52 at 1320 hrs (his 15th kill of a total of 37) and Fw Heinrich-Wilhelm Ahnert of 3./JG 52 at 1345 hrs (his first of a total of 57). These hours (in German time) are coherent with the (British time) take-off hour of 615 Sqn, even if the interval between the two kills is rather high. ....Read More.||Laurent Rizzotti on 19th October 2010 05:35:19|
