No. 20 OTU Dec 40 - Feb 41BCL Vol.7 records the following: 4th February 1941 - 20 OTU Wellington Mk.IC R1367 Sgt D.M. Walker RNZAF - Died of Injuries. Sgt E.G. Morris - Killed. P/O J.G. Pidduck RCAF - Injured. Sgt S. Summersgill - Killed. Sgt J.K. Blencoe - Killed. Sgt P.G. Carvenec - Injured. "T/o Lossiemouth for a cross country and practice bombing detail. While circling the aircraft, at 1040, the Wellington went out of control and crashed on the SE side of the aerodrome." RCAF ObserversHello, F/O James Garvie PIDDUCK RCAF. 4 Feb 1941 No.20 OTU Wellington IC R1367 Training T/o Lossiemouth for a cross-country and practice bombing detail. While circling the airfield, at1040, the Wellington went out of control ans crashed on the SE side of the aerodrome. Three perished immediately and Sgt Walker RNZAF died within a few hours from his terrible injuries. He lies in Lossiemouth Burial Ground, while the others were claimed by their next of kin.
