Night Fighter loss, but where did 99 Sqn Wellington Crash?Just to confirm the facts; R1411 LN-N crashed at 0248 hours on 1 September 1941 in a field at Beck Row, Mildenhall, Suffolk. The a/c had been diverted, made a faulty approach and was going round again when it was attacked and shot down from 150 ft. The injured RG, Sgt Stevens was the only survivor. Wellington R1503 crash August 12th 1941 after take offHello, P/O Eccles and Sgt Broadribb [sic], were not so fortunate approximately three weeks later. 31 Aug-1 Sep 1941 No.99 Sqn Wellington IC R1411:LN-N Op: Koln T/o 2028 Waterbeach. Diverted to Mildenhall on return, where the pilot misjudged his first attempt to land. While making a second circuit, the Wellington was shot down by a Ju 88C intruder flown by Fw Alfons Koster, NJG2, and crashed 0248 in a field at Beck Row, Mildenhall, Suffolk.
