410821 - Unaccounted airmen - 21-8-1941There was an entry in the No.8 FTS ORB for the accident to T8430, O'Dowd and Murton were both killed in that accident. August 21st 1941, “Pilot Officer O’Dowd (Instructor) and 1165687 LAC Murton H.J. killed in Master I aircraft T8430 near Friockheim. Accident investigated by Wing Commander Simpson on 24/8/41.” I also found this in the No.15 EFTS ORB, August 21st 1941, “Accident to Magister aircraft V1023 at Kirkbampton – Pilot Sgt Oakley F.H. and passenger civilian engineer killed.” ....Read More.alclark on 29th November 2008 12:48:17
410821 - Unaccounted airmen - 21-8-1941Thanks Mark and Al. Mark: 9 AOS had many a/c types on their strength. Couldn't find a Battle or Blenheim in my files. Other possibilities are Whitley - Wallace - Lysander - Anson. Al: V1023 in my files with Sgt OAKLEY as pilot, unfortunately no name of the civilian passenger.
