Details 1530-1730 Hours. hit by flak or explosions from own bombs in raid on Adwynbyin, Burma, crashed in flames; Air Gunner - Flt Sgt Douglas Camer McLEOD R64824 [RCAF] Aircraft was one of formation of six ac which was detailed to attack land target in Mayu peninsula. They ahd dropped bombs over target when an explosion may have been caused by enemy fire, on which filled the wings of the aircraft with holes. Pilot was able to stay in formation for a while, but soon lost hieight and crashed inverted into trees. [ORB] Fg Offr Duncan leading second Vic crashed in flames after dropping his 2 x 250lb. An explosion was felt by the whoel formation and his wings were seen to be full of honles with petro pouring out. Port engine caugh fire shortly followed by starboard. When at 200 feet, plane turned on its back and crashed in flames into woods at 515115. No one was seen to bale out.
