Charles Henry FletcherHi This may not be the man you are looking for but there are similarities that may tie in with other details you already have. FLETCHER, CHARLES HAROLD Initials: C H Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Sergeant (W.Op./Air Gnr.) Regiment/Service: Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve Unit Text: 405 (R.C.A.F.) Sqdn Age: 29 Date of Death: 18/09/1941 Service No: 1165250 Additional information: Husband of Noeline Lillian Fletcher, of Bulwell, Nottingham. Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: Sec. D/22. Grave 28. Cemetery: NOTTINGHAM NORTHERN CEMETERY This man died on a Wellington,W5492, LQ-K, which crashed on an Air Test near Pocklington, Yorkshire after a Dinghy broke loose from it's stowage and fouled the elevators The age is close and it could be that he left the airforce after 1933 and re-enlisted near the outbreak of war as he is RAFVR and not RAF on the CWGC site where the information came from together with Bomber Command Losses Vol 2 by W R Chorley. The Wife's name will probably tell you if he is "your" man or not as there is a difference in Middle name so it may be that you eliminate this one from your search. All the best with the search anyway Regards Dick ....Read More.Dick on 4th May 2009 01:44:57
