Another Belgain Query Lt Cochet 12 Sqn SAAF Killed in Boston Z2190 05/04/1943This is a bit of a mystery Observer Lt Cochet was killed in a 12 SQN SAAF Boston Crash Z2190 05/04/1943 In taking off the bomb bay top hatch of Boston Z2190 blew off and fouled the elevator. Aircraft was under control on a second circuit after overshooting when it was seen to go into a dive and burst into flames on crashing 2 miles west of Zuara. Lt Leycester Louis Goldworthy SAAF # 205741 Pilot Killed Flt/Sgt Goeffrey Thiel SAAF 280236 Air Gunner Killed Lt I J Cochet (Belgian Air Force) (Passenger - Observer) Killed Lt Chittenden (Observer) - Bailed Out at low level - OK Flt/Sgt Campbell (Gunner) - Bailed Out at low level - OK The ORB lists him as I J Cochet a number of times (and he had bveen on Sqn at least 2 month when he died) but his family grave at Grave Cimetière communal d'Aywaille lists him just as Yvan Cochet. Yvan Cochet is also listed under than name on the Brussels memorial Can anyone confirm his name and why he would be listed as I J in the Orb.
