A/c on Anti-Aircraft exercise, consisting of low flying attacks on gun positions. During a low-level attack the starboard wing struck a sand-bagged gun emplacement, decapitating one of the soldiers. The aircraft then crashed into a wooden garage at the end of Parliament Street, Consett, Co. Durham, and caught fire.

|Pilot & Soldier deaths 30.8.1941 at Consett Co.Durham||Hi-Can anyone help to provide a list of the deaths registered for the 30.8.1941 that occurred at Consett,County Durham .It is related to the Hurricane Z7062 crash at Parliament Street,Consett on this date which killed the pilot John Heron Wire of No.232 Squadron.This Hurricane was making a dive/low level mock attack on a machine gun position at the end of Parliament Street,Consett when it struck a soldier which was fatal.I am seeking the name of this soldier as I have no name and therefore I am not able to request the death certificate as they are indexed by surname.I have the exact date which is above but I do not have his name.Most likely from local eyewitnesses he was in the South Wales
