Spitfire K9968Dave I think it is worse than that - 3 aircraft histories have become mixed up K9868 - Del To 74 Sqn 18.2.39, Forcelanded in bad weather and overturned Cherboug 21.11.39. To 21 AD 30.11.39, SOC 9.2.40 K9968 - Del 602 Sqn 8.5.39; Stalled on landing, Church Fenton, 5/6/39; ROS ;Crashed in forced landing neat Cherbourg 31.11.39; dismantled and parts Of Locking for GI K9986 - Del 66 Sqn, 23.5.39. Crashed at night Duxford 6-9-39 - P/O D G B Paton of 66 Squadron Killed I think the 'French' incidents to K9968 and K9868 have become mixed up - The dates are only 10 days apart and the location the same! The only RAF Casualty on 21.11.39 (assuming Pilot killed) was HENRY NOEL MASTERTON - has anyone any information on his death - He was KOAS That still does not explain what happened to K9968 ....Read More.paulmcmillan on 6th October 2008 06:50:45
