Sgt. T. I. L. DAGG 78 Sqdn - KIA 29/06/1943Hi Russ From Chorley BCL Vol 4. Halifax JB907,78 Sqn EY-,was believed shot down by a nightfighter and crashed at Valkenberg at 0125 whilst on an op to Cologne. Chorley mentions a possibility that flak batteries at Aachen may also have been involved.The crew were :- Sgt P W J Rendle RAAF pilot Sgt L Howarth F/Eng Sgt G J Samuel Nav Sgt C A Morris Bomb Aimer Sgt T I L Dagg W/Op Sgt F Hill M/U Gunner Sgt W R Townsend RCAF Tail Gunner All died and are buried in Maastricht General Cemetery Regards Dick ....Read More.Dick on 27th March 2008 03:32:26Sgt. DAGG 78 Sqdn - KIA 29/06/1943Hi RussG The entry in Chorley's BCL 1943 shows the following info: 28/29 June 1943: 78 Sqn Halifax 2 JB907 EY- operation Koln Sgt P W J Rendle RAAF + Sgt L Howarth + Sgt G J Samuel + Sgt C A Morris + Sgt T I L Dagg + Sgt F Hill + W R Townsend RCAF + T/o Breighton. believed shot down by nightfighter, crashing 01.25 at Valkenburg (Limburg) 10km ENE of Maastricht, Holland. All rest in Maastricht General cemetery. Flak from batteriesnear Aachen are also mentioned as a possible cause leading to the destruction of this Halifax.
