E.A. Cummings, killed 3-9-39Just to update. A memorial cairn was unveiled on Bennachie on 2nd September 2012 to commemorate the crew of Wallace K6028, PO Ellard Cummings and LAC Ronald Stewart. It also commemorates the pilot of an RAF Meteor pilot, JB Lightfoot who died on the same hill in 1952. The poignant ceremony took place on the hillside of Bennachie, between the two crash sites, in bright sunshine with a light breeze and was attended by around 80 people including relatives of all the airmen. A little more about it can be read here http://www.bailiesofbennachie.co.uk/news/2012/9/4/bennachie-air-crash-memorial-cairn.html Remembered and not forgotten.
