Mid-Air Collision, 7 SFTS, 1941Hi all, Quote from Al's thread: "December 17th 1941.......air collision with an Anson aircraft. 7 Occupants of the Anson were also killed". For the Anson I've serial R9585 and the names of three casualties: P/O (Obs) Victor E. FRIESEN - RCAF J/7026; F/Sgt (Obs) John A. STEWART - RCAF R/65342, and Sgt (Wop/Ag) Raymond K. COOK - 798509 (from Newfoundland). The remaining four may come from the following names: P/O (Obs u/t) Henry R. CUTTEN - 112740; Sgt (Wop/Ag) Arthur GIBBONS - 1006983; Sgt Reginald KIRKUP - 551550; F/Sgt (Pilot) Laurence J. KUHRT - 580042, or F/Sgt (Wop/Ag) Cyril STOW - 549630. The place of death registration probably may give an answer. Regards and thanks for your help. Henk. ....Read More.Henk Welting on 8th October 2008 08:48:28

At an inquest yesterday afternoon the Coroner (Dr. E. F. Hoare) returned a verdict of “death from misadventure,” Kirkup’s home is at Bishop Auckland. It was stated Kirkup was accidentally locked in a lavatory on the third floor of the hotel. He climbed out of the window with the intention of getting on to the fire escape and fell.
