Village MemorialFlight Magazine dated March 6th, 1941 in the Air Ministry Casualty Listings lists A/C.2 H Thwaytes 1069816 - Died on Active Service This would suggest that he died as a result of illness or an accident while off duty. 251 Squadron did not exist at the time so that might be an typo of some sort on the CWGC.
