No.24 Sqn. Hudson IIIA FH460 - 4-8-1944Hello, Whilst I have quite a bit on this incident, I would appreciate any further details that are available. 4-8-1944 No.24 Sqn. Hudson IIIA FH460 Flew into high ground at Coombe Hill, nr. Wendover, Bucks, in bad visibility. Crew (Alpha order): 42308 F/L (Pilot) Robert William HARDCASTLE RAF + 362686 F/Sgt ( - ? - ) Leonard James REASON* RAF + 45256 F/L (Pilot) George Frederick ROBERTS* RAFVR + 136043 F/O (Pilot) Edward John SMITH RAFVR + AUS406605 F/O (Nav.) Arthur Milford TINDALE RAAF + 541901 LAC ( - ? - ) Ronald Joseph WALTER RAF + * Reason and Roberts, were "Old Haltonians". This incident is not covered by Alan Storr. Tindale's (undigitised) A705 at the NAA, is incorrectly filed under service number 40665. There is an excellent contemporary account of the incident, but it lacks the crew detail I need: http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article44985678 Corrections/additions, most welcome. Thanks, Col. ....Read More.COL BRUGGY on 26th October 2011 12:38:05
