Trying to find info about my GrandadThe best thing to do would be to order his service file from the RAF if you have not done so already, the Veterans agency website gives directions on how to do so. If you google search for Henderson 137871 we discussed him before very briefly on the forum http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/showthread.php?18876-450701-Unaccounted-Airmen-01-07-1945 If also will bring you to two results in the London Gazette which direct you to the fact that he was in the RAF Regiment and thus not a flying member of the force. he was an anti aircraft soldier as it turns out. The four digit Squadron number mentioned in the above link tell you this also, https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/35949/page/1368/data.pdf this is his record of commission as an officer https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/36131/supplement/3638/data.pdf If your in or near Kew you can view the Squadron records in teh National Archives: http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7159317?descriptiontype=Full&ref=AIR+29/102 ....Read More.dennis_burke on 23rd March 2016 05:44:30
Jack Liggett, 430 Sqn RCAF, 3 Mar 1955Good afternoon, I am researching 19 Squadron for a book about their activities during 1941-42. This gentleman, J L G Liggett, was briefly a pilot with 19 Squadron. I would be grateful if you could look into his service record and tell me the exact dates when he joined and left 19 Sqn. That would be very helpful indeed. My Uncle was a pilot with the Squadron at the same time but, unfortunately, did not survive as he was shot down in December 1942.
