Nationality and full name of McConnell, No.14 SquadronHi, McConnell was air gunner (WOP/AG) in a crew of No.14 Sqn with Pilot Murray MacKenzie, RAF (New Zealander) and Observer M.B. Fearn, RNZAF until MacKenzie was lost 1941. According to the official history (New Zealanders in the RAF) McConnell had the initials J.N. and he was killed 15 June 1942: “Sergeant J. N. McConnell; born Gisborne, 5 Jan 1921; civil servant; joined RNZAF 22 Dec 1940; killed on air operations 15 Jun 1942.” This must be wrong because according to Errol Martyn’s For Your Tomorrow Vol3 Jack Nock McConnell was a fighter pilot who was killed on Malta the 15 Jun 42.
