    Hello Stein,
I wonder if you could help me with some Norwegian related research I'm carrying out re. two airmen who lost their lives in south Wales during WW2 ?
The first is LAC Brynjolf Riise 5083 (trainee air gunner) killed in a Blenheim training accident 23 Mar 42 ( buried Alesund)
and Sgt. John Martin Hals, killed in a spitfire crash (buried Solheim, Bergen).

I wonder if you have any contacts in the above two locations with a view of finding any surviving relatives of the two airmen ?

Also I'm trying to find out any info on an LAC D.O. Olson 5035 who was rescued from the same incident as BE Riise above. Any ideas on which Norwegian authority I should write to to possibly find out any further info on D.O. Olson ?
  2. Hi Roy,

I don't have Yves' log book, nor copies. His log book is in the care of the Library, Armed Forces Museum in Oslo. It is open to public viewing. Call in advance.
I have several things to look up on my next visit there towards the end of this month or mid-November. I'll check up on your requirements then.
And yes, I'm interested in the photo! On his second flight in this plane, JU-O, on 2nd April-42 he writes: "Army Co-op. Low Flying Attacks. Prang!!! Nosed over and damaged one blade of the prop. Bad show." There is no mention of this incident in the ORB, though. By 11th June-42, JU-O was now BL423.

    Hello Stein,
Thanks for your answers to my question on Yves de Castro Henrichsen. As you have Yves logbook i wonder if you could please give me his postings and dates while he was in Canada. Also where he sailed from in Canada and to the port on the UK with dates please. Again dates and postings while under training finishing at 53 OTU.
Yves is one of 400 pilots that flew Spitfires donated from my home county of Leicestershire who I am trying to build a database of, this is been going for the last 22 years.
If you wish you can e-mail me direct to as I have a photo of Yves on 111 sqn with Spitfire Vb, X4670 'BRISTOL VENTURER'. If you do not have it I can then send it to you as an attachment.
    Roy Nixon
