    Selwyn,

From my 'For Your Tomorrow - A record of New Zealanders who have died while serving with the RNZAF and Allied Air Services since 1915 (Volume Two: Fates 1915-1942)':

    Tue 2/Wed 3 Jun 1942
    Bomber Command

Raid on Essen, Germany (by 195 aircraft - 15 lost) ...

...57 Squadron, RAF (Feltwell, Norfolk - 3 Group)
Wellington IC X9787 - took off at 2350 on same raid as the above, and shot down over Germany by a night-fighter, crashing at 0159 about 6km north of Gildehaus. All five crew died, the captain, possibly with others of the crew, being buried in the Konigseschstrasse Cemetery at Rheine. All five were later reinterred at Reichswald Forest, 5km SW of Kleve.
Captain: NZ41574 Flt Sgt Vincent Patrick CUMMOCK, RNZAF - Age 25. 452hrs. 6th op.

PS: Best not to use the 'Visitor Message' board, as I rarely look at (and not automatic indication of inward message comes up on my email).
